Stained glass entranceway in this historic places trust home located in the Christchurch suburb of Sumner.
The traditional art of painting on glass is a skill mastered by a mere handful of New Zealand Glass Artists.
Art Director of The GLASSROOM Dorothy Ratcliff is one of the few artisans in New Zealand who has this particular gift.
Only 3 days after these new windows were installed members of the Historic Places Trust visited this Christchurch home and were impressed with the condition of the “100 year old” stained glass windows.
It is an extroadinary gift to be able to empathise with the art form and the direct link that art form has to the architecture adding a clear sense of periodness, which has given such satisfying results.
