Engaged by the school “post earthquake” to prepare a detailed report on the damage to Te Koraha House’s leaded windows. Saint Paul's Trinity Church, Christchurch

Extensive fire damage suffered in 2009 with futher damage resulting from the 2010 earthquake, which hit Christchurch and surrounding districts.

Restoration included the extraction of full panels of glass, which survived both of these extreme circumstances. The panels were to be rehoused back into the steel frames after the frames had been properly restored.

To the delight of all interested parties the Heritage Architect, the Historic Places Trust, and Council our teams successfully removed over 600 original glass panels from the steel sashes, most of which were less than 1.5mm thick.

Christchurch city was again hit by a massive earthquake in February of 2011 which closed the chapter on Saint Pauls Trinity Church.

Supreme Court, Wellington

The Supreme Court building has been a significant addition to Wellington’s and New Zealand’s public buildings and will be a heritage site for the future. Buildings such as the old Government building and Parliament buildings help develop a strong sense of national identity, and so too does the new Supreme Court building. The new building is surrounded by a bronze and glass screen depicting the strength, durability and stature of the Pohutukawa and Rata tree. The Glass Room produced over 2,500 individual sections of heat treated glass for this gigantic sculpture. The building environment has a refreshingly unique New Zealand atmosphere. The Glass Room also produced the glass wall panels which are used to line the two sets of elevators

Scenic Circle Rain Forest Hotel, Franz Josef

This new eco-hotel was constructed in 2009. The hotel incorporates many sustainable design principles and is a soft timbered building designed to melt into and complement the existing native bush. A quiet and protected rain forest courtyard ensures the 100 guest rooms will have a restful feel and provide the guests with a 100% NZ experience. Pescatore Restaurant, Christchurch

Pescatore is The George Hotel’s premier restaurant.
This total refurbishment included three distinct areas; the white anteroom where diners are greeted and their palettes cleansed, the main restaurant area, and the private dining space which is a meeting room by day and a private dining space by night. The Pescatore refurbishment has been designed to complement Andrew Brown’s innovative food and is one of New Zealand’s leading dining experiences. The Glass Room was asked to produce the internal glass walls and screens and in so doing capture an elegance that The George could be proud of. It is fair to say that this was achieved.

The Rees Apartments/Marina Queenstown

The Glass Room was selected to provide the specialised colour coating for this project. The Glass Room was chosen because it had the ability to maintain accuracy in its colour palette over the period that this hotel went through the furbishment stage. Past experiences had taught the contractor that other coating companies did not necessarily maintain colour consistency over an extrapolated period. We certainly showed that our inhouse systems were not only effective in terms of consistent colour, but our unmatched 24 hour turnaround gave our partners a very real advantage in meeting deadlines.

Revisiting an old friend. 2010 signalled a huge change in our direction and it was also a chance to revisit the past. Here in southern England we revisited a piece of work which took Dorothy and David Wasely over a year to painstakingly create. Featured in many of the world’s journals of stained glass this set of complex windows is an experience of colour and light.

Robinson's Chapel, Oxford University, England
