The Glass Room

Supreme Court, Wellington

The Supreme Court building has been a significant addition to Wellington’s and New Zealand’s public buildings and will be a heritage site for the future. Buildings such as the old Government building and Parliament buildings help develop a strong sense of national identity, and so too does the new Supreme Court building.
The new building is surrounded by a bronze and glass screen depicting the strength, durability and stature of the Pohutukawa and Rata tree. The Glass Room produced over 2,500 individual sections of heat treated glass for this gigantic sculpture. The building environment has a refreshingly unique New Zealand atmosphere.
The Glass Room also produced the glass wall panels which are used to line the two sets of elevators
